Windows XP is an operating system released by Microsoft on October 25, 2001. It is the successor to Windows 2000 and Windows Me, and the sixth major release of Microsoft's Windows NT operating system. Windows XP is the most popular operating system of all time, with over 400 million licenses sold. It was succeeded by Windows Vista.
Windows XP was praised for its stability, performance, and user interface. However, it was also criticized for its security vulnerabilities, which led to a number of high-profile cyberattacks.
There are several different versions of Windows XP, the most notable ones being Windows XP Home Edition, Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Media Center Edition. Other versions include Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, Windows XP Embedded and Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs.
