XP-tan Figure (Yūyu)

A XP-tan Yūyu Figure.

The Yūyu company produced a XP-tan Figure as one of their OS-tan merchandise. It is a 1/8 scale figure that was first released on May 5 2006 during the World Hobby Festival Ariake 14 as a garage kit, and then as a prepainted PVC figure on September 2006 at the price of 5800 yens. This page focuses on the latter and much more common version.

Unlike the Me-tan counterpart figure, this one is shipped with a proper stand so no particular precaution has to be taken in order to expose it. The skirt can be removed, but not the rice cooker.

The figure has a height of 20 cm (excluding the cowlick, which adds about 1 cm) and weights about 220 g. The box with figure weights about 460 g.

Yashiro Kaname (Japanese: 八社 要) designed this figure.

Collector's Guide

Like the Me-tan figure, the demand is very high, though not as much, as one can notice that the "Wished by" stat on the MyFigureCollection entry is only about 40% of the Me-tan one at the time of writing.

While not very common, it is fortunately not too rare and appears occasionally on Japanese markets, and even Ebay (though often at inflated prices like many similar items there). The exact number of figures produced is not known.

The Garage Kit version is much harder to find.

Recommended prices

For the usual prepainted version,

• $120-200 with original box, everything in decent condition;
• $40-$80 if the box is missing.

Given the high demand, be prepared to pay more than $100 for the figure. A price up to $200 is still reasonable, however, since it is not too rare, you should not pay more for it and wait for another occasion if there is a sale asking such a high price.

The garage kit is extremely rare, but since people probably just want any of the variants or are not even aware of its existence, its value should not be much higher than the regular prepainted version.
